The Equalities Review
The Equalities Review was first launched in October 2010. It was developed to:
- provide an understanding of the new Equality Act 2010
- explore good and developing practice
- explore the some of the long term and underlying causes of disadvantage that need to be addressed by education providers
- provide practical tools to implement equality into teaching, learning and everyday practice for: employers, education providers (specifically FE and WBL but where relevant including topics that support schools and other providers of teaching, learning and training)
- research areas of policy, practice and need.
- commission initiatives in order to gain a better understanding of the latest policy, practice and development.
The Review started publication again in this academic year from October 2011 on a quarterly basis. The Equalities Review resources, which were hosted on the Equality and Diversity UK website are now available on the Review's own website - www.equalitydiversityresources.co.uk - that provides a wealth of information on aspects of equality, diversity and inclusion.
You can continue to access a range of presentations that cover equality issues and other related topics.
In addition, there is now a bigger focus on research around embedding equality into curriculum areas that are seen as hard to develop.
From December 2011 we are funding research into equality and curriculum, learning environments and community cohesion. We will publish the results of our research in the Review accompanied by a practical and useful toolkit which will be available in June 2012.
