The Communities of Practice Network
A national network committed to equality, diversity, social inclusion, community cohesion, respect for human rights and an end to discrimination, harassment,
victimisation and bullying because of age, disability, gender and gender identity, race, religion or belief, and sexual orientation.
The Communities of Practice aims:
- To promote equality and in particular the elimination of discrimination because of age, disability, gender, gender identity, race, religion or belief, class, socio-economic status sexual orientation or any combination;
- To foster and promote Human Rights
- To support both organisations and individuals working in the areas of age, disability, gender, gender identity, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation and Human Rights or any combination;
- The advancement of conflict resolution or reconciliation between competing characteristics of equality and diversity
- To support personal and organisational development and training in the areas of the equality characteristics
What the Communities of Practice Network does
- Draws together a wide range of information about all aspects of equality and human rights,
- Provides its users with the information, expertise and understanding they need to tackle discrimination, harassment, victimisation, prejudice and bullying
- Provides a space for developing dialogue, experience, skills, understanding to tackle discrimination, social and economic disadvantage and human rights abuse, so that they can, in turn, provide better services that value diversity
- Strengthens the contribution of individuals, organisations, companies, colleges, employers and the third sector to public policy by sharing expertise and advancing shared views.
- Commissions training, resources, research and delivers seminars as a result of members requests and requirements
What's on offer?
A wide range of resources put together to meet the needs of individuals and organisations. The needs will be met through:
- Subsidised Professional development workshops
- Providing professional development opportunities for equality practitioners
- Networking with a wide range of professionals
- Providing a forum space to support open discussion of equality and diversity issues
- Peer support and practical advice from members
- Newsletters (six monthly)
- Development of an online equality resource
library
- Production of fact sheets and briefing notes
- A voice for practitioners
- Developing the understanding, knowledge and skills of professionals and individuals
- Update on new and existing equality resources
- Individual and organisational advice and guidance
Resources
On the Communities of Practice website, there is a large online
resource library. Many of the resources are free to
download. Some of the resources have a Unit value attached
and you can use your Units to purchase these resources.
Gold Members have 25 Units with which to purchase
resources, and further Units can be purchased on the site
