Equality and Diversity pack for Legal Services

Equality and Diversity for legal services firms

This pack provides advice and guidance for legal services firms on their duties and responsibilities to good equality and diversity practice.

It is aimed at solicitors, barristers and other legal services companies that deal with the public and who are bound by the SRA Standards and Regulations.

The SRA Guidance states: “We expect you to take the necessary steps to run your business or carry out your role in a way that encourages equality of opportunity and respect for diversity. We expect you to be inclusive in your approach to everything you do.”.

Failure to comply with this principle may also result in contravention of principles one and six:

You have a responsibility to encourage diversity at all levels of the workforce. Encouraging a diverse profession is a responsibility we share with everyone working in the profession. This is a regulatory objective set out in the Legal Services Act (2007), "encouraging an independent, strong, diverse and effective legal profession".

The 106 page pack contains 6 sections
