A practical course helping managers and staff understand domestic abuse, support affected employees, develop workplace policies, and fulfil duty‑of‑care responsibilities.
Domestic abuse affects wellbeing, safety and economic independence — and it impacts workplaces more than many organisations realise. This course helps managers, HR teams and staff understand how abuse affects employees, how perpetrators misuse workplace resources, and how employers can provide safe, supportive and legally compliant environments. Delegates explore policy development, duty of care, good people management and practical strategies to support affected staff.
In‑house courses are private sessions delivered exclusively for a group of people from your organisation, on a date that suits you, with the option to tailor the content to your staff and setting.
Open courses are public Equality and Diversity UK training dates that anyone can book onto, ideal when you only need training for one or two people.
Domestic abuse not only impacts the wellbeing of women, but also affects the financial strength and success of the companies for which they work. Seventy‑five per cent of those experiencing domestic abuse are targeted at work, and perpetrators often use workplace resources such as phones, email and other means to threaten, harass or abuse their current or former partner.
One in four women will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lifetime. This means it is likely that all workplaces will have staff who have experienced or are experiencing domestic abuse, as well as those who are perpetrators.
Domestic abuse is the abuse of power and control over one person by another and can take many forms: physical, sexual, emotional, verbal and financial. Although this training refers principally to women, it applies equally to men and to same‑sex relationships. All employees who experience abuse should be supported regardless of gender or type of abuse.
