Subject Access Request (SAR)

Last updated: 1 September 2026

1. About this page

Under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the right to request access to personal information Equality and Diversity UK Ltd (EDUK) holds about you. This page provides a simple way to make a Subject Access Request (SAR) online. You do not need to use this form — we also accept SARs by email or post.

2. What we will do

  • Respond to your request without undue delay and normally within one month
  • Carry out searches that are reasonable and proportionate
  • Contact you promptly if we reasonably need more information to verify your identity or clarify the information you are requesting
  • Provide your personal information securely
  • Explain if any information cannot be provided or if an exemption applies

3. Make a request online

Please complete the form below. Fields marked with * are required.

Please tell us what personal information you would like access to and, where helpful, any relevant dates, services or correspondence. You are entitled to request all of your personal information and do not have to narrow your request.
You do not normally need to provide formal identification unless it is reasonably necessary for us to verify your identity. If you choose to provide a document here, please upload a JPG, PNG or PDF of no more than 5 MB. If we need further evidence, we will contact you.

4. Other ways to make a request

You can also make a SAR by email or post:

Data Protection Department
Equality and Diversity UK
Warwick House
14 Lowes Road
Bury
BL9 6PJ
Email: dp@equalityanddiversity.co.uk

You do not need to use any special wording. A request for access to your personal information can be treated as a SAR even if you do not use the words “subject access request”.

5. What happens next

  • We will review your request and decide whether we reasonably need any further information
  • We may ask for information to verify your identity where this is reasonably necessary and proportionate
  • We may ask you to clarify the information you are requesting where clarification is reasonably required
  • We will normally respond without undue delay and within one month
  • In certain circumstances, the response period may be extended by up to a further two months; if this applies, we will tell you and explain why
  • We will provide your personal information securely
  • If we cannot provide some information, we will explain why
